Doug Brown
Doug is a retired attorney and has been doing stained glass for about 10 years. I’ve known Doug most of those ten years as he used to shop at the studio I worked for before opening Blue Moon. He lives in the neighborhood close to Blue Moon and shops here regularly. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing all of the beautiful stained glass that Doug has built and installed in his home. For years he has been remodeling his home….adding transoms over most of the interior doors and exterior windows. I’m afraid that one day soon Doug may run out of places for his beautiful stained glass in his home.
Doug works almost exclusively with Bullseye glass in his creations. As Doug put it…”when the most expensive part of building a stained glass window is your labor, why would you skimp on the quality of the glass.”
Doug puts an incredible amount of details into his work. In case you are wondering….yes, all those scales on the chameleon’s are individually cut and foiled pieces of glass. While working on these windows Doug would come in quite regularly taking a break from the project and cursing himself for starting it!
Doug does both lead and copper foil methods. And on occasion he has come into our studio to fuse his own glass when he could not find the exact glass that he was looking for. In his Toucan windows he used Bullseye glass powders and fused them to achieve the affect he needed for the coloration of the beaks and faces.
Great job on the windows Doug! Keep up the wonderful work!
Enjoy seeing some of his creations here.
