Class Description

Week One

  • Bicone, Cylinders and Natural Shaping
    • Wrapping techniques for minimal shaping
    • Using heat control make 'naturally' shaped beads:  hourglass, genie bottle, reverse hourglass

Week Two

  • Round vs. Donut and Footballs
    • Show wrapping technique so minimum shaping is required.
    • Using heat control turn a donut into a round
    • Using heat control to get good ends.
  • Barrel
    • Wrapping without trapping air.
    • Shaping a barrel with heat control and marvering.
    • Shaping a barrel using push/pull technique.

Week Three

  • Bigger is Better
    • Building and controlling large masses of glass
  • Stringer Control
    • Pull thin (1mm) and thick (2-3mm) stringer
    • Controlling stringer using the 'sweet spot'

Week Four

  • Encasing
    • Linear Encasing
    • Wrap Encasing
    • Encasing raised surfaces
