Guest Instructor: Doug Baldwin
We are extremely pleased to welcome back commercial product photographer, Doug Baldwin to Blue Moon!
This is a 2 day class in which Doug will teach his students secrets on how to photograph objects that are extremely hard to photograph, like glass and jewelry. He will also demonstrate how to use Photoshop to extract your creations from a photograph, and add new backgrounds, create shadowing and more!
Day 1, Photography: Come learn the secrets of how to shoot beads, glass, metal clay, ceramics, jewelry, wood and other arts and crafts with a professional photographer. See what aspects make for a high quality photograph. Learn the language of studio photography, the 9 parameters of successful photos and how to produce them. We'll cover basic photography, camera and lens choices, the qualities of good lighting, composition, background materials, and how to set your camera's menus for consistent, high quality photographs. Students will use instructor provided lighting stations during class to learn lighting techniques.
Day 2, Photoshop: Two workflows will be demonstrated using Photoshop CS5 and Elements 11 on how to extract objects from backgrounds, add new backgrounds, create photo realistic shadows and more. Students will learn how to create color accurate files of their art for use on their website, Etsy, in magazine articles, books, portfolios and for juried competitions. Plus, how to purchase recent versions of Photoshop at less than the full retail price.
